Why do some stories have no author?
Usually because the story is a press advisory, media release, or announcement from an organization (or several orgs). A press release is intended to entice a reporter to write a story on the subject. But, because we have no reporters, we publish press releases pretty much as written.

Does Ground Score ever pay for stories, or photographs?
As a general rule, no. In our 7 year history, we paid for photographs exactly once. We've sold a single photo once. We've never paid for a story. Now trading? Yes. We've done lots of trading...

How can I re-print/post a story in my blog/zine/site/paper?
Copyrights, uncopyrights, permission to reprint, forward, post, etc. appear at the bottom of each story. If permission isn't automatically granted, you must ask the author's permission. Other work is covered under our catch-all copyright, "Unless otherwise noted, all contents are copyright © 1998-2005 www.groundscore.org" and you must contact the editor for permission.

Why can't I select any text in the Newspaper archive?
Stories in the Newspaper archive volumes 2 & 3 are mostly pictures (.GIF files), not text. Volume 1 issues are archived as PDF files and Adobe Acrobat Reader should allow (limited) text selection.

Who is Farmer Goat?
Farmer Goat and the Old Goat are pen names used by the publisher, Brad Simonds. Tips from the Goat's Garden was one of the most popular columns in the newspaper, and several other articles in past issues were authored by him.

Who is Namae Rceci?
Namae Rceci wrote Pagan Tyme, another of the most popular columns; as well as numerous other contributions to the paper. Namae Rceci (sdrawkcab) is the pen name used by Douglas Lee.

What is a "ground score"?
When you find something cool on the ground, like a spoon, a cool rock, or whatever. [from the unofficial Rainbow Family Glossary] A Ground Score is always free.

What is the Fam Damily?
The fam damily is a wonderful group of friends in Upstate New York. Ground Score grew out of the fam damily's gatherings and participation in music and camping festivals and other hippie/activist/rainbow gatherings. Ground Score was "born" at the Honeywood Hootenanny and was named by the Rare and Speckled Tim.

What is the 4:20 cleanup and party?
Ground Score adopted part of Rt. 20 in Upstate NY and gather every so often to pick up trash and have a pot-luck party afterwards [exerpted from a 2002 review by Farmer Goat]....there was plenty of trash to pick up - from car parts to dirty diapers... While some built a big bonfire, others started the cooking... children playing... drums and sweet sounds of guitars...
